Boiler service
Boiler Maintenance: Protect Your Investment
A boiler is an investment in your home's comfort, and like any machinery, it requires annual maintenance. The best time to service your boiler is before the heating season begins or at its start, while outdoor temperatures are still mild.
What Happens During a Boiler Service?
Boiler service includes a thorough inspection and cleaning of critical components:
- Heat Exchanger, Burners & Flue Inspection & Cleaning
- Condensing Boilers require heat exchanger disassembly, cleaning, descaling, and gasket replacement, as well as drain inspection and cleaning. This process takes longer than servicing a cast iron boiler.
- Igniter & Flame Sensor Cleaning & Inspection
- Gas Leak Check & Combustion Analysis (Carbon monoxide testing is available for an additional fee.)
During the same visit, the technician will inspect the near-boiler distribution system, including:
- Makeup Water Supply & Feed Valve Check – In buildings with galvanized or black iron water lines, rust buildup can restrict water flow, leading to low system pressure and potential safety hazards.
- Pump Inspection & Lubrication (if needed)
- Air Eliminator Inspection & Service – The technician will also bleed air from radiators, if necessary.
- Heat Cycle Test – To verify thermostat operation and overall system performance.
